Just a few days ago, we at the Mihai Eminescu Trust finished organizing a sports-themed summer school in the village of Alma Vii. 25 children of different ages had a blast practicing basketball and football alongside participating in team-building workshops. A trip to Sighișoara (including a friendly match with other young local footballers in the same city), a picnic on the hill, a campfire with marshmallows, and a movie night rounded out the event.
For the fourth consecutive year, our trusted partners have supported us in organizing summer school programs. We are grateful both to our volunteers and to the Netherlands’ HORIZON Foundation for generously contributing their time and support to help make this summer camp a success.
This year, our upcoming summer schools will focus on the Mălâncrav and Florești villages in Laslea, Sibiu, as well as Archita, in the commune of Vânători, Mureș, and are anticipated to conclude on September 17th after offering engaging socialization, athletic and personal development opportunities to approximately 155 children. 10 volunteers, hailing from both within and outside Romania, are continuously offering their time to this project. Successfully adapting our summer programming to the little ones across several Transylvanian communities and different age groups (ranging from 5-14 years old) also requires the involvement of engaged teachers and childhood educators, football and basketball coaches, and dance instructors, to whom we are also deeply grateful.
Details concerning upcoming summer school programming will be shared as they become available.
