Workshops about the history of painted furniture and the significance of floral motifs in Transylvania
In 2014, MET carried out the Transylvanian Flowers project – a project to promote the traditions of restoration and painting on wood. With this project we wanted to educate the public on the value and conservation of wooden heritage objects based on children’s activities. That is why we organized workshops about the history of painted furniture and the significance of floral motifs in Transylvania, and painted wooden objects in the villages of Bunești and Laslea communes were inventoried. The 30 students involved in the project participated in a trip to the Astra Museum in Sibiu where they observed the restoration specialists in action. Finally, each participant painted various miniature wooden objects with floral motifs specific to a certain area.
