Episode 6 of the “In-cluded. Ex-cluded. When a Syllable Decides Destiny” campaign presents three NGOs active in the field of social inclusion:
🎯 Sighișoara’s VERITAS Foundation’s mission is to “make a positive difference in the community” by offering numerous, impactful social services and events. Day centres for children, adolescents, retired adults, and adults with disabilities are all community programs supported by VERITAS. They also boast a social restaurant and a café (the “House on the Rock”), and put on cool projects like “Mainstream Sighișoara – European Investment for Social Inclusion,” “Your Health Matters,” “Body of Peace,” and “Generations Project.” The later project involved eight senior volunteers who shared their decades of knowledge with children and young people.
🌱 Herbarium – The Plant Shed is in the village of Șoard, in Vânători, Mureș county. Anamaria, the project’s initiator, writes that “Herbarium – The Plant Shed was born out of my desire to remind people that plants have numerous benefits and therapeutic effects on the body.” Gradually, “Herbarium” became the place where Anamaria hosts volunteer-led workshops for children in her village. In the future, she wishes to open a holistic shelter for mothers and children escaping domestic violence.
🧩 The “Life Has Meaning” Association offers primary and specialized services for children and young people with disabilities through its day centres. “We want to offer education and care for the children admitted to our programs, [thereby] increasing family and community involvement to ensure decent living conditions for children with disabilities. We facilitate access to education, socialization, and social integration for children with disabilities or those with special needs that may cause their marginalization or social exclusion, by providing specialized services in our day centre, as well as through partnerships with local authorities, other institutions, and organizations active in the fields of child protection and the promotion of children’s rights.” You can find them at: asociatiavas@gmail.com.
