We are excited to bring you the third episode in our series “In-Cluded. Ex-Cluded. When One Syllable Changes Destiny,” a journal documenting our advocacy campaign to raise awareness of social inclusion initiatives carried out through the “ȘURA – Laboratory for Inclusive Civic Experimentation and Engagement” Project.
In this episode, we are delighted to introduce Liviu and Elena Tudosie of the Perspective Danes Assocation, an NGO based near Sighișoara. Liviu and Elena have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to fostering social inclusion through their organization. Perspective Daneş is a non-profit which retains administrative autonomy, operates without political involvement, and is guided by Christian values in accordance with international treaties, Romanian laws, and our Constitution. It supports Christian education, strives to improve the circumstances of disadvantaged communities, and works intensively with community members to understand each person’s unique social role within their communal context. Perspective Daneş offers a widows’ support group, supports Ukrainian refugees, shepherds Daneş youth through their educational journey, fosters children’s sports, and hosts an after-school program. Recently, Perspective Daneş opened a community convenience store offering locals low prices without asking that they sacrifice quality.
Likewise, we want to introduce our followers to the Hopa! Association from the village of Țopa and to Teli Iacșa, a talented visual artist from Bucharest who relocated to Transylvania a few years ago, who together advocate tirelessly for social inclusion in the village of Țopa in the Albești commune. Their nascent NGO seeks to rejuvenate the village’s community values through cultural programming, social activism, educational projects, and nature conservancy. Hopa! seeks to organize artistic residencies, beautify the village with the help of artists and architects, and pass along knowledge of traditional crafts to the village’s children. In the future, they hope to host volunteer-led school workshops for young people with disabilities.
