MET plants 497,850 seedlings in 2023

Planting projects have broad benefits both for the environment and local communities, including:

  • Combating climate change: By planting trees, the level of atmospheric carbon dioxide is reduced.
  • Improving air quality: Trees absorb pollutants from the air and release oxygen, contributing to improved air quality and reduced risk of respiratory conditions.
  • Protecting the soil: Trees protect the soil from erosion and degradation, keeping it healthy and fertile.
  • Contributing to biodiversity: Trees and plants offer natural habitats for many species of animals and insects, helping to maintain biodiversity.
  • Improving quality of life: Trees and green spaces are important for our mental and physical health. They help reduce stress levels and improve overall wellbeing.
  • Community development: Planting projects often involve local communities, thus contributing to their development and to the strengthening of relationships among their members.
  • Improving aesthetics: Green spaces and trees improve the aesthetic appearance of the community and can be a key element in the development of tourism and the local economy.

Planting projects are an efficient and important way to protect the environment, improve quality of life, and develop local communities. This year, the Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation, in collaboration with forestry departments and landowners, contributed to the planting of 497,850 seedlings, or almost half a million trees. The disaster-stricken locations where we planted trees included Brașov, Bacău, Mureș, Harghita, Covasna, Bihor, Bistrița, and Alba counties.

We thank our partners, Pur Project and Caudalie, for their trust and support throughout these projects. We also warmly thank the elementary and high school students that enthusiastically joined our effort to plant seedlings.
