“Our House Viscri” Project Finale Funded By HMS

While it is difficult to choose from among so many special, heartfelt endeavours, “Our House Viscri” is certainly among one of the most beautiful projects undertaken by the Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation. The rehabilitation of Viscri house #140 is a true adventure. This project has taught us much, and demanded creativity as we confronted initially insurmountable problems. “Our House Viscri” strengthened our bonds as a team and with our skilled partners.

“Our House Viscri” will become an important landmark of the Viscri Rural Site – a community space, a living museum, and a source of information for tourists. Although we’ve only just begun the restoration work enabled by a separate, P.O.R.-sponsored funding round, we already have many activities planned at #140, from a new edition of the MEeT Heritage summer school that will take place during execution of the restoration works, to the community programming that will take place in the barn.

We are glad to bring another traditional Transylvanian dwelling back to life. We could not achieve this goal without the support of the National Heritage Institute, which funded our effort through the Historical Monuments Stamp (HMS) program. For those interested, HMS finances the technical and economic documentation (DALI, PT, DTAC, DE) and emergency interventions necessary for the restoration of historical monuments.
